HOUSTON (March 29, 2016) – Mobil Steel International, Inc. was recognized as a new member of the Pearland Chamber of Commerce at an official “ribbon-cutting” held at Mobil Steel’s steel fabrication facility on Wayside Drive earlier this month. Although only recently joining the Pearland Chamber, Mobil Steel has been an active member of the Pearland community where many of the company’s employees reside.
Throughout the years Mobil Steel has sponsored Pearland Little League teams and assisted near-by Sagemont Church’s Helping Hands community needs program which helps the unemployed, as well as displaced spouses and children and senior citizens needing home improvements. The steel fabricator also helped remodel the two-story Faith House at Eagle’s Lift Ministries adjacent to Tom Bass Park. Faith House serves as a secure home environment for abandoned, pregnant or abused young women.
“Our entire workforce took time out to celebrate the ribbon cutting with the Pearland Chamber representatives. We are big fans of Pearland,” pointed out Leonard A. Bedell, President and CEO of Mobil Steel. “Many of our employees live in Pearland, including two leaders on our management team – Mark Scott, our General Manager and Sheri Henry, our HR Manager.
“We frequently visit with Pearland Mayor Tom Reid and State Representative Ed Thompson of Pearland. In fact, we were blessed to have both of them join our company Thanksgiving lunch the past year,” Bedell added.
Madison Polston, service development coordinator for the Pearland Chamber, led a contingent of chamber representatives and ambassadors to celebrate Mobil Steel joining the Pearland Chamber of Commerce. “I really enjoyed the Mobil Steel ribbon cutting ceremony. The Mobil Steel team is such a fun bunch I would welcome another chance to visit Mobil Steel,” Polston said.
As an organization of businesses and professional men and women, the Pearland Chamber helps keep the economy of Pearland healthy and prosperous and acts as the voice of business in advocating on a local and state level for its members.
