Galdisa USA, a subsidiary of Galdisa Mexico, broke ground June 23 on their nearly 47,000 square foot facility in Conroe Park North. Galdisa, a sheller and processor of peanuts and peanut products, plans to have the facility fully operational by March 2018.
Galdisa promises that the new plant will be state-of-the-art, with the investment being made to improve safety and efficiency. The vertically-integrated company will use their Conroe facility to better serve their United States and Canadian customers. Initial plans will have Galdisa hiring a staff of around 25 people, with designs to grow to 50 employees within two years.
Victor Galindo-del Toro, President & CEO of Galdisa USA, said the company chose Conroe for its ideal location and welcoming community.
“When we made the decision to expand into the United States, we considered a number of Texas cities. We chose Conroe for its proximity to Houston and existing infrastructure,” said Galindo-del Toro. “Additionally, the city has embraced us from the beginning. Conroe EDC had their arms wide open and helped Galdisa get established here.”
The Conroe Economic Development Council (Conroe EDC) is equally as delighted to welcome Galdisa to the Conroe community.
“It was a thrill to join the Galdisa family in the groundbreaking of their facility in Conroe Park North,” said Fred Welch, Executive Director of Conroe EDC. “Galdisa is a well-established company that we were excited to help land in Conroe. We look forward to watching them grow and prosper in their new facility.”
Founded in 1957, Galdisa is dedicated to the production, manufacturing, and sale of peanuts and peanut products for industrial, wholesale, and retail markets in the United States and Mexico. Galdisa is also involved with other products, such as pumpkin seeds, fava beans, chickpeas, and hibiscus flower. The company currently has nine facilities located throughout Mexico, in addition to their plant and sales office in Conroe.
