E-Cycle Collection Event Adds Toner Cartridges to Accepted Items
HOUSTON (September 21, 2011) – The Greenway Plaza e-cycle collection scheduled for Thursday,
September 22nd will be accepting toner cartridges as a featured item for this event along with other normally accepted electronic waste. The semi-annual collection day sponsored by Crescent Real Estate provides Greenway Plaza customers and neighborhood residents a convenient, environmentally responsible way to recycle home and office e-waste. More than 100,000 pounds of e-waste collected from Greenway Plaza customers and area residents has been recycled and diverted from landfills over the previous three events. Participants should utilize the drive-thru lane between 9 Greenway Plaza and Frost Bank entering from Edloe Drive between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Bass Computers, Inc. will recycle electronics including the following acceptable equipment: computers, monitors, VCR/DVD players, servers, scanners, as well as cable/wire, integrated circuits, circuit boards, mainframes, and drives. Additional acceptable equipment includes telephones/cell phones, testing equipment, power strips, UPS backup, fax machines, memory and printers. Toner cartridges will be recycled by Atiwa. Items not accepted include: televisions, refrigerators, household appliances, batteries, wood, ferrous metals (steel), non-computer plastics and hazardous materials.
Although all hard drives will be destroyed by Bass Computers, participants are advised to remove personal information and data from hard drives, cell phones and other equipment prior to donating the items. Crescent Real Estate and Bass Computers will not be responsible for data or information left on equipment.
